As you can probably already tell, I am not a fan of garments that cling to my body. So you can imagine how excited I was when I found this adorable swing dress from LOFT. The best part, I paid $15.49 for this dress after all of the discounts. My word of advice if you are a LOFT shopper, NEVER and I mean, never pay full price for anything in that store. Since I studied fashion in college I learned all about mark-ups, mark-downs, pricing strategies and more. Just a word of advice, if a garment is priced at $40 it probably cost less than $10 to make. Clothing typically is marked up 4 times the actual cost of the garment. So knowing what I know about mark-ups, I always try to get certain things on sale. Now, please keep in mind that not every garment is marked up 4 times.. some are less and some are more. It's just a general rule of thumb that I like to share with all of my friends when we're shopping. Because let's face it, if you know a garment cost a lot less to make then you're probably going to have a problem paying that retail price.
And as you've already seen, you can tell them I'm totally into prints right now! Now, I'm not really sure what this print is, but it is somewhat geometric so I was drawn to it. Since it was black and white I figured that it would be a good staple piece to dress up or down. And I dressed it up this weekend when I attended the graduation celebration for HeyJule. In doing so, I added my go-to wedges and a fun statement necklace. I'm super into turquoise stones so it was an easy decision for me. Plus I liked the contrast between the turquoise and chestnut in my wedges. Best part about this outfit, I was 100% comfortable. Which is always very important, especially while celebrating. Remember, your style should fit you so at the end of the day you need to feel comfortable in the clothes (and the skin) that you're in. Embrace it.
