Life Lately

Well, hello there! So today's post is going to be a little bit different than the usual post. And actually, lots of the latest content will be beauty, home decor, and just life related. I'm still planning on sharing tons of style because let's face it, that is what I'm passionate about. But I've been trying to figure out a way to include all of these other topics that consume so much of my time. And are essentially huge factors in why I've been so MIA.

First, as I'm sure most of y'all know, my husband. So where do I even begin? It's been so incredibly crazy and extremely unpredictable this past month so let me tell you why. The off season of professional baseball begins roughly in the middle of September through mid February, if your team is not in the playoffs. My husband and I made the decision for him to play winter-ball in the Dominican for the month of October. Well, my husbands team (The Arizona Diamondbacks) have continued to play well and have clinched a spot for the NLDS beginning in tonights series against the Dodgers. When I went out to Phoenix a week or so ago, I experienced what it's like to be with a team when they clinch a Wild Card spot. It was absolutely insane, in the best way possible! But as you can imagine, this all puts a pause on our plans to go to the Dominican. Which it's not a good or a bad thing, but for a planner like myself it is just making life more than unpredictable. Everyday there is new question, will we do this? Where will we be? And like I said before, I can't exactly talk about a specific baseball topic, until it publicized by the team. But just know it has been so exciting for us these past few weeks and it's played a huge factor in why I've been so disconnected from posting. For me, since I am such a planner I'm trying to just let it be. But it's certainly easier said than done when you don't know where you (and I say you meaning my husband and myself) don't know where you will be in the next 1-7 days of your life. But that's baseball for you! Which actually, I wanted to tell y'all (since it's requested pretty frequently) that I'm planning some future baseball related content, too. Just to share some of the things that come along with baseball and what it's really like.

The next reason for my absence is quite simple: I'm a perfectionist. As all of the many events of life just keep popping up, my attention has been taken to each of those. A home project pops up and I just dive right in to get it taken care of. My latest project? And to be honest, I probably have like 5-10 tasks just waiting to be completed because I'm told, that's just what being a homeowner is. A list of tasks and to-do's of all of the things you want to do! But I didn't tell you our latest project so here it is; a fence. We have two dogs that love (and I mean, love) to run around and chase each other. Our mom's are both animal lovers and have dogs, too. Everyone in my family has (on average) 2-10 dogs. So it's safe to say that we are dog people. So we just want to have a place not only for our kids, but for our families dogs too in the event that they should come and visit. But as I'm sure you are aware, home decor and projects take a lot of time and effort. The perfectionist in me planned on sharing rooms as I completed them. But I'm realizing that if I did that, y'all would be waiting a pretty long time since these things all cost money. So instead I'm going to share either a project, DIY task, or just basically what's the latest thing that I'm working. These photos and posts will not be perfect. They will be real. I like to think I have an eye for interior design (I'm no expert by any means) so my plan is to share some photos of spaces with my ideas. My hope here is that perhaps some of y'all will have other ideas that I haven't thought of. But this also means that I need your feedback! So I hope you're up for it!

And lastly, the final reason is obvious. At least for me it is! The tragedy that occurred on Monday in Las Vegas has shaken me to my core. Perhaps it's because I now have a connection to Vegas since my husband has played there, I don't know exactly. But what I do know is that for me, it just wasn't right to promote content. The days following it still felt heartless and insensitive to post anything. I've discussed this topic with my close friends and we've shared our thoughts. I just can't wrap my head around it. I can't figure out how as humanity, we can't figure out a way to make things better. I don't know what the solution is but my initial thought is that we certainly need more compassion, kindness, and love in this world. When a tragedy happens we are so quick to say "Thoughts and prayers are with you," but in reality how many of us are actually thinking about the tragedy after that's said? How many of us are praying? How many of us are doing what we can to help others that are affected by tragedy? We just move one, which I'm not saying is wrong. But if the event doesn't immediately affect our everyday life, we write it off as normal and just carry on. Which moving on from such tragedies are required, but I think we've just become so immune to them that we don't even respect those who are/were affected. Again, I don't know what the solution is but I just know that I was disappointed in the amount of people that just went on like it was a normal day on Monday. Because it was anything but a normal day. Even this entire week has just been weird, at least for me.

All of y'all have reached out asking where I've been and I just wanted to say 'Thank you + I'm sorry' all at the same time. At times blogging can be more than frustrating. I know that I've lost my much-ness in regards to blogging. There are just so many different changes rolling out that are affecting lots of things related to blogging. Add in baseball, a home, and tons of tragedies, too. So it's just been a weird time for me as a blogger, but I hope I haven't completely lost any of you along the way. If there's a particular topic you want me to write about, please do not hesitate to reach out. Honestly, the readers that reach out to me help keep me on track and motivated. So YOUR words mean more than you know!

Thanks so much for sticking with me through that lengthy (but necessary) post. I hope y'all have a great weekend!
