My Monthly Favorites | January '18
Happy Thursday! I can't believe how quickly this week is flying by. Last night Christian asked me how many days he has left home and it made me so incredibly sad to think about how fast this off-season has passed. I'm so excited for Christian and this upcoming season! Mostly because Christian is excited about this organization. If you follow baseball at all or have followed me since last Spring Training, then you're probably aware just how crazy last season was for us. Particularly during Spring Training. So we're excited to still be with an organization that is excited to have Christian!
Anyways, this is a new series I'm bringing to thegoldengirldiary.com. Each month I'll be sharing some of my favorite things from the month. Whether it's a new recipe, home or style related, or even beauty. You name it, it could be on here! So let's jump right in.
choppy hair tutorial went live!
Even though videos scare the crap outta me, y'all asked for it so here it is. I guess I should start by saying that one of my favorite things is my new blunt haircut. I got a few highlights and a new cut last month by my girl Ashley at Wisteria Columbia. She always does an amazing job and I'm seriously so happy with how it turned out. My plan is to grow out my hair a little bit longer and go for a blunt lob cut. If that's actually a thing? I don't even really know, but I'm going with it!
the jewelry i'm loving lately
Photographed above is one of my go-to necklaces by Moon & Lola. I love it because of it's simplicity. It looks good alone and layered with other shorter necklaces, too! You can get it in various lengths, as well as different size initial charms. And my bracelets are all from Patra Jordan! She and I met last year when we lived in Sarasota for the off-season. I'm so grateful that we did! Her bracelets are seriously my favorite! If I had to pick one, I would for sure go for the roman numeral bracelet. It's in the same category as my Moon & Lola necklace where it looks good solo or stacked.
No surprise here! Stacked my favorite bracelets, with the addition of one of my Christmas presents. I've been eyeing up the 'Screw You Baby Cuff' by Henri Bendel for quite some time. So I was super excited when I opened it up on Christmas morning. I also got this Henri Bendel bag! Now, the bag is sold out in this exact color, but it's a style bag that they keep stocked year round. Or at least I believe they do! It's the perfect sized without being too big. Plus, the front of it zips off and has a shoulder strap so you can just use that part for a night out! I didn't realize that until Christian actually told me and my mind was seriously blown. #amazing
Last but certainly not least are my layered necklaces from Chelsea Charles. She makes those super cool bracelets I showed y'all on my stories a few times; the ones that have movable beads to count anything you'd like. She was so sweet and sent me these necklaces with our last name and Christian's Major League number. I am seriously obsessed with them! If you're interested, she can customize them with anything you'd like on them, too!
I shared this with y'all on my Instagram stories, but my latest and greatest mixture is this. We recently cut refined sugars out of our life, so it's been my go-to when I'm having a sweet tooth craving. Here's what I use!
Chobani Original Plain Non-Fat Greek Yogurt // Make sure you get the non-gmo with live cultures! They have other versions of this yogurt but they have added sugars in them.
Organic Dark Cocoa // You can skip these or add them! I do both sometimes, depending on what else I have eaten that day. Look for one that has no added sugar in the ingredients. We go for the 'Simple Truth' brand found at Kroger.
Local Honey // Yes, honey has sugar in it. But if you can find someone who has local honey with no additives..that's what we're looking for. If you're a #sodacity local, try Bee Trail Farm located in Lexington, SC. Eating local honey also can help with your allergies as well!
Organic All Natural Peanut Butter // Or any nut butter of your choice! Again, we go with the 'Simple Truth' brand found at Kroger.
If you're having a difficult time finding products with no sugar, just simply look at the ingredients list. What we're focusing on is no added sugars. So it can be tough but just takes a little research! Honestly, just reading ingredients and becoming more aware of what you're actually ingesting into your body is a huge step. So give that a try if you're looking for a sweet tooth alternative!
What were some of your favorite things from the past month? Any blog or Instagram posts that you loved in particular? And if there wasn't, let me know what you'd like to see! I'm always open to suggestions! Have a fabulous Thursday!
