How to set + reach goals for 2017

Happy Monday, cuties!

I'd like to start by saying THANK YOU! If you're reading this chances are that you've read some of my other posts as well. So thank you from the bottom of my heart for joining me on this journey and helping me grow. Without you, I certainly would not be where I am today.

With the new year comes lots of new goals, right? So if that's the case then why is it so difficult to stick with "resolutions" that we make for ourselves? I'm guilty of setting those cliche goals like "I want to loose 10 lbs this year" and while that's a goal it's not really reasonable. So now let me tell you why!

ONE | Let's stop referring to these tasks as a resolution. | They are a goal and you certainly can achieve it. Aiming for a resolution means that there is an issue or problem. Although there might be some bad choices here and there, blaming yourself is not the solution. Refer to these aspirations as GOALS. It's positive and certainly means that you can achieve it.

TWO | Set goals for each month. | Because lets face it, 30-31 days is way more achievable than 365 days! Am I right?! Check out this example: If my resolution was to lose 10 LBS this year that is certainly a long time to achieve it. I could stick with it, fall off the band wagon, jump back on and still achieve it. I think the whole idea of a goal is because we want to better ourselves. And not just for a day or a week, but overall. We say we want to eat better, usually it's something we'd like to continue to transition into, thus creating a habit. But let's also not forget this fact, say I'm working out 5-6 days a week for a year. Chances are I am going to get in shape, which means I will be building muscle. And um, hello!? Muscles weighs more than fat. So "losing 10 LBS" could potentially turn into you remaining the same weight or maybe more. Just something to keep in mind.

THREE | Find a person/people to continue to motivate you. | It's happens to everyone. We all hit a wall eventually and it's cool. Just make sure you have a supportive spouse or partner to keep pushing you when you feel like you don't want to continue on with your goal. You might be a little aggravated at the time, but after you continue on past that tough spot you will certainly appreciate that support.

FOUR | Write your goals down. | This goes along with #2! Setting goals for each month may change as the year progresses. So I suggest writing your goal for each month down so you can stick with it. Perhaps (if you're like me) write it somewhere you can see it everyday so it acts as a friendly reminder. Plus, as you progress through this year your goals may change month-to-month. Which is another reason why setting monthly goals is way more beneficial!

FIVE | Don't forget to pat yourself on the back. | You achieved a goal? So now it's time to reward yourself. Whether you'd like to treat yourself to merchandise or a day at the spa, the choice is yours! Big or small, a win is a win.

Well, I hope you enjoyed my tips on how to achieve your 2017 goals. After all of the holiday travel, I certainly fell off the work-out wagon. So after 3 weeks off, I'm heading back to the gym today and with a new workout buddy. I'll introduce her on my IG later. So what goals will you set for 2017? Let me know below! Also, if you need any help setting goals or even help achieving them, shoot me a message! I'd love to help to check them off your list!

Have a great day!
