I'm Back!

Hello! It's been quite awhile since I've published a blog post. In the beginning, my intent with The Golden Girl Diary was to share my love for style. Over the past two years of blogging, I've learned that there is so much more I could be sharing with y'all. I'm not saying I know everything, because I know that I don't. So even though my passion has always been in fashion, I want to make this blog about so much more. To be honest, the reason I haven't discussed other topics sooner is simply just out of fear. Fear that what I have to say is not going to be taken well or that I will lose some of y'all along the way. Because after all, y'all followed me for my style advice (or I'm assuming that is the truth since that's all I've pretty much blogged about).

There were a few reasons that I took a break from blogging. I hopped off social media for a little, too. But even then, when I got back onto my Instagram the aftermath was upsetting to me. I'm always in a constant struggle and have two moods towards Instagram: the "I don't care what my numbers are like; Instagram is a mess." and the "Holy cow! I am losing followers and my posts are tanking. What am I doing wrong?!". As a blogger, I know that I'm not alone. But I'm assuming most of you are not bloggers so losing followers isn't too much of a concern. Quite honestly, I'm a little jealous that it's not. More importantly, I took a break because I was creatively exhausted. I felt like the last couple posts were just published for the sake of being published. If there's one thing to know about me is that I don't like to just be mediocre. And I felt like that's how my posts were written. The reasons I was feeling this was is due to a lot of factors.

One || It's summer. Typically, brands are saving their budget for holiday content. So after sending out tons of pitches to brands I'd like to work with (and more importantly, that I think y'all would enjoy) and hearing nothing but silence was extremely discouraging. I've chalked it up to the time of year but am still disappointed.

Two || There's a lot going on with my husband and baseball this time of year. Unfortunately, due to how the baseball business works there is not a whole lot that I can elaborate on. Because I know if I shared my honest opinion I'd probably be getting a call from my husband AND his agent. Just so you know, when things happen with baseball it's all very quiet. And that's pretty much all I can say about baseball..for right now at least. But I will take a moment to gush about my amazing husband because he has had an AMAZING season so far. He is one of three in ALL of professional baseball to have 30+ home-runs, 100+ RBI, and 100+ runs. Not to mention, he was a Triple A All-Star, a Homerun Derby Contestant, and just won MVP of the league among all of the other small awards he's won just this season. To say I am proud is an understatement! His drive and work ethic are seriously out of this world. I promise, you will never meet someone who loves the game of baseball like he does. And that is easy for me to say because I know him; but just trust me when I say that.

Three || I've been focusing a lot of my energy on our house. With the baseball season coming to an end, I am trying to get done as many things as possible for Christian's arrival. Because I'm sure you don't know that Christian has not once slept in our new home. As a matter of fact, he has only been in our home for about 2 hours total. And that was when we looked at it! So I have been painting like crazy and decorating as we can afford it. I will say it has been so much fun, though! The perfectionist in me wanted to share rooms with y'all as they are completed. However, I now know that could take some time. So my new idea is to share the spaces with you and our ideas for the spaces. Just to maybe help inspire you when completing your home projects! But even so y'all can provide feedback on some of our ideas! Because as first time homeowners we seem to have waaaay too many ideas.

So in a nut shell that's just a little of what's been going on. As I mentioned, I plan to share more about baseball since I know some of you have asked before about it. It's just that I have to extremely careful with what I share and how exactly I share it. If that makes sense! I'm also planning to share more home decor and lifestyle posts with you. I know I've mentioned this before so just let me know if there is a topic that you'd like to hear more about. I'm always open to suggestions and I want this to be a place for you to come for inspiration, encouragement, and more. I hope I didn't lose too many of you on that novel. I knew this was going to be quite lengthy! LOL.

Have a safe and blessed Labor Day!
